LET'S GET SELF-AWARE

What is self-awareness?
I'll try to explain to you what I understood.
Let's start with a story. I am the hero of the story(I promise, it won't be a long one. LOL!!).
One night I watched an amazing movie and I was so inspired by one character from that movie. He was the hero.
He suffered from so much pain and so many bad incidents in that movie and ultimately he got the love of his life and became a great businessman (Like it happens in every movie).
And what happened with me was I started relating myself with that character because of the pain he had gone through. And what I wanted was the same attitude that character had.
I started imagining myself as that character and started living as if that attitude is mine.
But in reality, I was a completely different person. My hurdles in life were totally different from that movie. Since I was living in my imaginary bubble I was not able to concentrate on my life and everything got fucked up.
The problem here was I was not aware of my external as well as an internal problem.
When I realized that I am not that person whom I was imagining and I have very different abilities then I started looking myself inside out. I wanted to find myself.
That's when I came through the word 'SELF-AWARENESS'.
We all know what awareness is, having knowledge about anything like your environment, your job, your friends, your city etc..etc.
Self-awareness is also the same thing, having knowledge about your self. Which involves your thoughts, body, mind, skills, abilities, basically everything which is related to you.
Why do we need to get self-aware?
In short terms, self-awareness gives you a clear visual of your self. If you don't know about your self then it is possible that people might take advantage of you and I guess many of us have faced it somewhere.
Suppose you were given a maths problem and you need to find a solution for that. So before finding any solution you need to analyze the problem. You will check what are the variables, are there any values given in the problem which can be helpful in finding the solution.
Only by analyzing the problem you will get aware of all the variables and values and you will easily find the solution.
That is how life works. For solving your problems easily you need to get self-aware.
Are there any benefits?
Benefits of self-awareness are many:
- It can help you to figure out your path.
- You will get to know your weakness and strengths.
- Your decision making part will get stronger.
- Most importantly, you would gain control over yourself.
There are many. You can find them all over the internet. But only reading does not help you have to start making some moves.
How to get self-aware?
There are many ways to get self-aware. Find which suits you the best.
People say, talk to yourself, ask questions. But the problem is many of us do not know what questions we should ask ourselves.
We tend to get distracted easily. Right? (Maybe some of us. Not all.)
Do you know how you get distracted every time? What causes your distraction?
This is the right question to ask what causes distraction instead of asking why these things happen to me.
Meditate. Best way.
Mindfulness is the best practice to do. It makes you more aware of your body and mind.
You can easily start by observing your breath. Start with 10 minutes first and slowly increase your time.
For some people, meditation does not work. You can try journaling. It is the best way to track down your thoughts and activities and analyze them.
Don't forget, when you will be going deep inside of yourself you may find some shitty things, but do not get scared.
Past was past and it's gone.
If you are terrible at something then be bold and accept your flaws. Do not run away from yourself.
It is good to know the weaknesses and blind spots of ourselves.
Self-acceptance is the key point of self-awareness.
If people say something bad about you, you must accept the fact and try to know what is causing the issue. That is also a part of getting self-aware.
